Brick Lintel

Brick lintels are the essential horizontal members that carry the weight of masonry over any opening. At Vincent Buda and Company, we specialise in R3 Galvanised Brick Lintels that provide the structural backbone for Australian homes. Our range includes angle bars, T-Bars, and flat bars, all engineered to prevent the sagging and cracking that occurs with inferior support. Because these lintels sit inside the moisture-prone cavity of a brick wall, we ensure they are hot-dip galvanised to Australian standards. This prevents rust from expanding and causing "brick growth," which can lead to expensive structural failure. Since 1957, we’ve provided the trade with straight, high-strength steel that is ready for same day or next day delivery within Sydney Metro.

Four Primary Applications for Brick Lintels:

Face Brickwork: Supporting the external skin of a home over windows and doors.
Brick Veneer: Providing structural support for the outer brick layer in timber-framed builds.
Double Brick Construction: Using T-Bars to support both the internal and external skins simultaneously.
Masonry Arch Support: Providing a level base for decorative or structural brick arches.

    Why choose our Brick Lintels?

Superior Protection: Hot-dip galvanised (R3) to survive the damp environment of a wall cavity.
Structural Integrity: Manufactured to meet mandatory Australian Standards for load-bearing steel.
Vast Inventory: Massive range of lengths and thicknesses kept in stock for immediate use.
Fast Delivery: We ship orders out same day or next day within Sydney Metro to keep your job moving.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It stops the steel from rusting and expanding inside the wall. Standard steel will expand as it rusts, which pushes the bricks apart (known as "brick growth"). Our R3 galvanised lintels prevent this, keeping your masonry in perfect condition.
You need at least 150mm on each side. This ensures the weight of the brickwork is safely distributed onto the supporting piers. Vincent Buda and Company stocks various lengths to ensure you achieve the correct bearing. Please chack with you engineer if unsure.
Yes, but R4 may be required very close to the ocean. Our R3 lintels are perfect for most areas, but for sites within 1km of the surf, we recommend checking if your engineer requires R4 or stainless steel.
Yes, they are a dummy-proof structural solution. As long as you have the correct length and follow the bearing requirements, they are simple to place on a mortar bed, available for same day or next day delivery within Sydney Metro.
