They act as connection and permit in plane movement to accommodate differential movements in built-up brick/block walls.

They are also corrosion resistant.

Option of 2 different materials:

  • Made from 470g/m2 heavily galvanised wire to comply with AS/NZS2699-2000 durability classification R3 down to R0 rating according to AS/NZS2699.1:2000
  • Stainless steel

These ties are designed for a life of 50 years. They have a high zinc coating a comply fully with Australian standards. They are red in colour for ease of identification.

Australian standards generally require 3.5 to 4.7 wall ties per square metre of masonry. This spacing helps distribute loads evenly across the wall. Around openings such as windows and doors, ties should be installed more closely — typically every 300mm vertically.

The R3 rating refers to the level of galvanised corrosion protection applied to the steel. R3 galvanising provides a thicker zinc coating designed to prevent rust inside masonry cavities, making it the standard requirement for most Australian building environments.

In severe marine environments, such as areas very close to the coastline, building specifications may require alternative corrosion-resistant materials. Always check the engineer’s specifications or local building requirements for projects in coastal locations.

Yes, but the tie type must match the wall system. Veneer ties are fixed to the structural frame before being embedded in the mortar joints of the brick veneer, while cavity ties are embedded in mortar on both sides of a cavity wall. Selecting the correct tie ensures proper structural performance.
