For spanning large openings in double-skin masonry (’double brick’), the Galvanised Steel T-Bar is the structural professional’s first choice. Engineered to carry the heavy loads of two brick skins simultaneously, they are the standard solution for wide garage doors and window openings. Every length is Hot-Dip Galvanised (R3), providing a durable structural header that helps prevent rust expansion — a leading cause of masonry cracking over time.
The Budabar T Bar is an Australian designed lightweight lintel used to support brickwork over openings.
It is available in a range of lengths.
All T Bars are 200mm x 200mm. Below are the dimensions and thicknesses of each length.
| Length | Dimensions (Base)/(Vertical) |
| 900mm | 200mm x 6mm (B) / 200mm x 6mm (V) |
| 1200mm | 200mm x 6mm (B) / 200mm x 6mm (V) |

A T-Bar acts as a single, rigid unit, which prevents the internal and external brick walls from moving independently. This ensures a much straighter and more consistent brick line. Additionally, if the underside of the lintel is visible, a T-Bar provides a cleaner, seamless finish compared to the gap left by two separate pieces of steel.
Yes — it is hot-dip galvanised to AS/NZS 4680, meeting the R3 durability requirements for use in moisture-prone wall cavities and external environments.
The required bearing depends on the size of the opening. For openings less than 1200mm long, a 100mm bearing on either side is fine. For openings greater than 1200mm, a 150mm bearing is required to safely transfer the load of the masonry to the supporting structure.
Yes — T-Bars can be cut on-site if required. However, all cut ends must be treated immediately with a high-quality Cold Gal Spray to restore corrosion protection and maintain the R3 rating within the wall cavity.
