Yes — as long as the pit is fitted with the correct load-rated grate. When installed correctly with a concrete surround, GRC stormwater pits can handle typical residential vehicle loads, making them ideal for driveways, garage entrances, and residential stormwater drainage systems.

Yes. A stable base is essential for long-term performance. Most installations use 100–150mm of compacted bedding sand or a concrete binding layer beneath the pit. This prevents the stormwater pit from settling, tilting, or shifting once installed.

We stock standard GRC pit sizes from 300mm to 600mm, suitable for most residential and small commercial stormwater drainage systems. At Vincent Buda and Company, we maintain strong stock levels so you can quickly match the pit to your hydraulic or stormwater engineer’s plans. Alternate sizes are also available with a 1–3 working day lead time.

In most permanent installations, GRC pits offer greater strength and durability. Unlike plastic pits, glass reinforced concrete will not warp under ground pressure or degrade under UV exposure, making it a long-lasting solution for stormwater infrastructure, driveways, and civil drainage systems.
