Carry heavier loads and longer spans with the wall-bearer concrete lintel built for serious brickwork openings.

The Concrete Lintel - 170mm x 110mm from Vincent Buda and Company is a prestressed 65 MPa wall-bearer lintel engineered for single-skin brickwork where the opening is wide, the load is heavy, or both. At 170mm high and 110mm wide, this profile provides the structural depth needed for spans from 1800mm to 4800mm - large windows, wide doorways, and garage openings in rendered brickwork. Like all VBC concrete lintels, it is cast with a brush finish on the top face during production and must be installed with the brush-finish face facing downwards as the render face. Vincent Buda and Company has supplied structural lintels to Australian builders since 1957.

All six sizes are stocked at the Lakemba warehouse. Same-day or next-day delivery within the Sydney Metro.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Wall-Bearer 170mm Profile: The deeper section handles heavier structural loads and longer spans than the standard 110mm x 80mm lintel.
  • Prestressed 65 MPa Concrete: High-strength prestressed construction gives superior load capacity across spans up to 4800mm.
  • Render-Ready Brush Finish: The textured top face is installed downwards, bonding directly with mortar and render for a seamless, crack-free result.
  • Corrosion-Resistant All-Concrete Build: No metallic components means no corrosion risk, ideal for coastal and high-humidity environments.

A1: The 170mm x 110mm is the wall-bearer profile, designed for heavier loads and longer spans. The extra height gives more structural depth, allowing spans from 1800mm to 4800mm compared to the 1000mm-3600mm range of the smaller profile. Compare both in the Lintels & T-Bars collection.

A2: Install with the brush-finish face facing downwards - that face becomes the render face. The brush finish was applied during casting to provide a mechanical key for mortar and render. Installing it the correct way round is critical for render adhesion and long-term performance.

A3: No - both concrete lintel profiles are designed for single-skin brickwork only. For cavity masonry you need a lintel for each skin or a lintel that spans both skins. Shelf angles and other options are available in the Lintels & T-Bars collection.

A4: A minimum of 150mm bearing on each side is recommended for the 170mm x 110mm profile. Given the heavier loads this profile typically carries, confirm the exact requirement with your structural engineer for project-specific conditions.
