Do Linear drains not comply with Australian Stardards?

Wanting to buy a Stainless Steel Linear Floor Drain. Deciding on whether you need a drain with an 80mm outlet or you can use one with a 50mm outlet, then i hope the below information helps.

1. Is the Linear Drain used as your primary drainage point in your bathroom?

If the answer is no, then a linear drain with a 50mm outlet is suitable for your application.

If the answer is yes, then it becomes more complicated. If the answer is yes, and you have  access to the pipework beneath (i.e it is NOT slab on ground) then you can use a linear drain with a 50mm outlet is suitable for your application.

If the answer is yes, and it is either slab on ground or you don't have access to the plumbing underneath, then you need to use an outlet of minimum 80mm.

2. Is the Linear Drain used as your secondary drainage point in your bathroom?

If the answer is yes, then a linear drain with a 50mm outlet is suitable for your application.

Conclusion: If your application is slab on ground and or you don't have access to the primary drainage from beneath, all floor wastes used whether it is a linear drain or standard floor waste must have a DN80 as a minimum. At present, we can supply this only in our Linear Tile Insert Drains as a custom. Send us an email with your details and we will quote this for you.
